New Beginnings

Hey friends!

Kaitlin Johnson Senior-0019.jpg

It has been too long since I’ve updated you all! The past three months have literally been the craziest, busiest time of my life. I started a full time job, completed my last semester of college and graduated. I also have been getting things ready to move into my apartment next week!

So, with that being said, I have not had much time to spend writing this semester.
BUT..I have a big surprise for you all.

There have been a lot of changes in my life lately, and I am excited to let you in on all the happs.

At the end of the summer, some friends and I started working on a project which is now coming to life. A brilliant, sweet, wonderful friend of mine had a dream on her heart and invited some people to join her on bringing this dream to life.

I don’t want to give anything away, so I will be pretty vague here. Unfortunately, the time it is going to take for me to contribute fully to this project, I will no longer have my personal blog time here. I will keep my blog up and do some big life updates here, but there won’t be regular weekly posts. (Which there hasn’t been for a few months).

Anyway, this project is so dear to my heart now and I am so blessed to have friends who are dreamers and doers.

Go check out Milquetoast Revival.

Much love friends! Kaitlin Johnson Senior-0036.jpg

Fall Feels

Y’all. Fall is so close. I love this season for all the reasons most other people do as well: cooler weather+cozy sweaters+candles/fires+pumpkin flavored everything+hot coffee

One thing I have been looking forward to for this fall is yummy soups! There is nothing better than eating a hot, hearty soup on a chilly fall day. Add in a grilled cheese and a good movie, and good luck getting me to leave my house. But really. This fall I am going to try out some yummy soups and put my crock pot to good use! Here are a few of the recipes I’m excited about trying [via Pinterest]:

Turks and Caicos Round 2

Hey friends!

The second half of our two week trip was in Turks and Caicos, so here are just a few pictures of how beautiful this place is! IMG_4427 copy.jpgIMG_4458 copy.jpgIMG_4463.JPGIMG_4359.jpg

I think my favorite part about this place is watching the sunset on the beach. Every evening we would have dinner and could always see the beautiful sunset! It’s a dream. IMG_4358.JPGIMG_4426 copy.JPGIMG_4430.JPG

Plus, the dessert there (insert praise hands emoji). Seriously, SO GOOD.

As everyone is going back to school, I know we can all agree that we wish to be somewhere tropical rather than in class. BUT now we can start counting down to all of the fun fall festivities!

Black Romper

Hey friends!

Even after the three posts about NYC, I left out something! (insert eye roll emoji haha). Anyway, so while I was in New York City, we went to eat at Serendipity, and y’all, it was AMAZING. Their Broadway Sundae was so delicious that I am still dreaming about it.

Right next door to the restaurant is this little boutique called Dejavue . All of their clothes are imported from France and Portugal, so it was really awesome to see all of the trends there. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and told about the store. SO then they guessed my size (because their sizing is different) and handed me this romper to try on. It fit perfectly, and I knew that I needed it in my life. But really, I was amazed at how perfect it fit.

This romper would be perfect for a date night, girls night out, or paired with a blazer for church! I got a chance to wear it to dinner at Turks and Caicos one night, and I cannot wait to wear it again! IMG_4441.jpgIMG_4442.JPG

NYC Outfit Inspiration

Hey y’all! So packing for New York City was a lot more difficult than I had imagined planning for humidity, heat and a lot of walking. SO I thought I would share with you all a couple of my favorite outfits I wore in the city in case you find yourself packing for these conditions.

This outfit I wore to The Top of The Rock as well as to tour Central Park. It was perfect for this trip because the tank top and shorts were lightweight and comfortable for the heat + humidity. I brought this jacket with me originally because the airplanes are usually so cold, but I was chilly that morning in the hotel, so I brought it with me. This hat actually was so great because something about New York City made my hair freak out, so it covered a bit of the crazy.

(Sorry about the weird picture size! I lost that picture on my phone and had to take it from Instagram).

Anywho, this outfit was one of my favorites for this trip! The dress was so easy in the heat, plus I wore it to see The Lion King that night, so it was a good transition. These shoes I wore almost every day because they were so comfy and easy to walk around the city in. Also, I wore my hair braided like this almost all week because of how the humidity made it look CRAZY. IMG_4295.JPG

Lastly, this grey dress was so comfortable for walking around the city and shopping that day! Plus I had to put this picture in here because this LOVE is so cute!

I hope this helps next time you may be packing for some crazy humidity+heat+walking.

New York City Continued

Hey again! As promised, I am finishing my overview of New York City with all the places we ate at!  Y’all. We ate so much food. It was great. But seriously, New York has such great places to eat and it was so fun to try a bunch of different things! Some of the places we went were The View- a restaurant that was actually up at the top of our hotel, the Marriott Marquis- This restaurant is so cool because it slowly spins, so in an hour you will have made a complete circle. We ate there twice, for brunch and dinner, but I was partial to the brunch because let’s be real: pancakes. We also went to eat at Ellen’s Stardust Diner after seeing Lion King. It was unreal. This restaurant has waitors/waitresses who all are aspiring to be on broadway. They not only wait your table, but they perform for you the whole time you are there. The talent there was crazy. It was AMAZING. We also ate at a restaurant in Central Park called The Boathouse. This restaurant was so nice because it sat right by this area where people were in these boats, and you were able to sit and just watch the beautiful view. Also, our hotel was across the street from Juniors where they have the best cheesecake. We loved it so much that we ate there twice. One morning for breakfast we went to this cute cookie cafe called Schmackary’s, and it was delish. Also, while in New York City I really wanted some macaroons, so we went to Macaroon Cafe and tried every flavor. I learned then that rose flavored things do not taste good at all, even though they’re so cute.

Obviously there are some places we missed because you can’t go to every great restaurant in New York City in one week, so if you have any favorite places not mentioned, I would love to hear about it!

New York City

IMG_4346.JPGHey friends! I just got back from a two week trip! I went with the family that I work for, and we went to New York City and Turks and Caicos. It was so so fun and so jam-packed with activities. The two places are so different, so it was a really cool experience to visit both back to back. Today I’m sharing with y’all some of the many things we did in New York City. Since we were there for a week and did so much, I will have to break down my posts into activities and food because I want to be able to cover most everything! I’ll start with our activities:

We filled our schedule for the week, but here are a few of the activities we did! First of all, we of course went to some broadway shows. We saw both The Lion King and Aladdin. They were BOTH incredible, and I was totally bit by the broadway bug.

We also went to several of the parks in the city. (It is unbelievable how beautiful their parks are compared to here. I don’t know why, but I did not expect that!) We also went to the American Natural History Museum and the 9/11 Memorial as well. We went to the Top of The Rock, and I loved being able to see the city from that view. It was gorgeous.

On our last day, we went on this boat cruise where we went around the area and our guide told us the history on the major sites. It was such a fun way to finish our stay in the city! I loved New York City, and will definitely be going back to do more exploring! I would love to hear about your experience in the city and any other places I should visit next time!
